JULY 3

SO the plan in the morning was to meet the group and Dr. Davis back at the airport so we could Drive to Brittany. Let me remind you though that our 45minute train ride to Paris took us an hour because we got lost. One thing we found in France was that the worst thing a tourist could do was get lost and have to ask for directions. Even if you do ask for directions you don’t understand the person.

Here’s how the day went… 8am leave the hostel and arrive at the airport at 9:45am. We walked to three separate terminals just to find Dr. Davis, and finally on the last one we spotted his wife Maggie. Two hours later we left Hertz with five stick shift cars and one automatic. Let’s pause…… stick shift bad, automatic good. I have never seen so many cars stall just trying to get out of the parking lot. We caused quite the scene. Never the less we got on the road with our handy dandy GPS. Of course the gps would know the best way to get to the Farm from the airport. It was a bad idea to trust that thing. Instead of going around Paris and getting on a main highway to take us straight there, the Garmin took us on a wild goose chase. Try caravanning six cars through the alley ways of PARIS!!! It was absolute chaos. I think we broke more laws in a matter of an hour than most people have in their entire life. This trip was set to be 4.5 hours, ,and somehow after a car chase through the city, getting pulled over by the police on the Peripherique, the trip ended 13hours later. We had a marvelous spaghetti dinner at 1am. Um Um tasty. Driving through the countryside was one of the most beautiful sceneries I have seen in a while. I could not help but stare out the window at the wide open rolling hills. Wine country was going through my head. All I wanted to do was try the Bordeaux pinot noir. We arrived at the farm in pitch black and had to use the car light just to get into the cottages. I was exhausted and just wanted to hop into bed.
